How to transfer saved data from PS4 to PS5
November 22nd 2020
With the PS5 on sale worldwide, many gamers must have already got this new console. Among them, a large proportion of players must have their own PS4, so how to transfer the data saved in PS4 to PS5?
Sony has previously released an official video tutorial, which may be because the actual operation is more complicated than the video shows. The official recently released a text version of the data transfer tutorial, which introduces each step in more detail.
Players who have not bought a PS5 can also collect it in advance for future needs.
Log in to the same account on the PS4 as the account on the PS5 console.
Update the system software to the latest version.
While viewing the trophy, press the "Options" button, and then select Sync with PlayStation Network to synchronize the trophy information.
2. Make the connection
Connect the PS5 and PS4 host to the same network. You can use a network cable or WiFi connection. The figure below is an example of wireless connection between PS5 and PS4 hosts.
Connect the PS5 and PS4 host to the same modem or router, and then transmit data wirelessly.
B) Network cable
If there is only one network cable, please try the following:
Connect the PS5 and PS4 host to the same network wirelessly. Then, use the network cable to connect the PS5 host to the PS4 host. Doing so can increase the transmission speed-as fast as connecting two hosts to the network using a network cable.
When both hosts are connected to the network using network cables, there is no need to connect the PS5 host to the PS4 host.
C) HDMI cable
D) Power cord
Use the power cords included with the PS5 and PS4 consoles respectively.
3. Make the transfer
To transfer data during the initial setup, follow the instructions on the screen when you enter the data transfer phase.
Turn on the PS4 and PS5 console, and then use WiFi or network cable to connect them to the same network.
On the PS5 host, go to "Settings> System> System Software> Data Transmission> Continue".
Select the PS4 you want to transfer data from.
When the PS5 host displays the message "Ready to transfer data", press and hold the power button on the PS4 host for at least one second (until you hear a beep).
On the PS5 host, select the data to be transferred.
Read the notes, and then select "Start Transfer".
During the data transfer, the PS5 host will automatically restart. After the host restarts, you can start using the PS5 host.
Note: Transferring data will not overwrite or delete the data on the PS5 or PS4 host. During the initial PS5 setup, players can transmit data from multiple players. After completing the initial settings, you can transfer the data of one login account at a time.
