AMD's Ryzen 5 3600 is also designed for six cores and twelve threads. From the parameter point of view, AMD is slightly inferior, mainly losing at the highest clock speed, but we must not forget that Ryzen 5 3600 can be overclocked, which is a tie in terms of parameters.
Intel Core i5-10400
Let's look at the running points again. Intel's Core i5-10400's CinebenchR20 single-core running score is 450 points, and AMD's Ryzen 5 3600's single-core running score is 472 points. AMD narrowly won. Intel's Core i5-10400's CinebenchR20 scored 3197 points in its multi-core run, and AMD's Ryzen 5 3600 scored 3,689 points in its multi-core run. AMD still wins. In terms of CPU performance, AMD’s Ryzen 3600 won.
However, you cannot just look at the running scores; you have to look at other technologies supported by the CPU. The Ryzen 5 3600 supports the latest PCIe4.0 technology. Even if you are not going to use PCIe4.0 devices, having the option should be considered and you might use the tech some point of time. Ryzen 5 3600 can also be used for longer period of time.
Ryzen 5 3600 is generally equipped with B450 or B550 motherboards, neither of which limits the memory frequency. If the i5-10400 is paired with a B460 motherboard, it can only use 2666MHz memory sticks. Although the difference between 2666MHz and 3200MHz is not very large but you cannot ignore it.
Intel is even better in terms of instruction set, and can obtain better optimization and faster performance on some professional software.
So comprehensively, I feel that there is no doubt about choosing Ryzen 3600; this processor is beastly. It genuinely is a revolutionary piece of engineering and is something you should have on your radar for a long time. It is now the best value chip on the market. It is indeed much better than Intel's i5-10400. Ryzen 3600 have already defeated the i5-9400 and i5-10400 in succession. I have to admire that Ryzen 5 3600 is really a game god.
